CUMBRIA COUNTY SCRATCH LEAGUE RULES
1. There shall be a total of 6 Leagues in the County Scratch League, North Division 1, North Division 2 North Division 3, North Division 4, South Division 1 and South Divison 2.
2.Entry fees for each team in the 2024 season shall be £50.00 and this fee will be reviewed annually.
3.Teams shall consist of 4 players. Players shall play in strict Handicap Index order but where players have the same handicap index the team captain shall have the discretion to play those players in the order of his choosing. Breach of this Rule will result in that individual's loss of Match points. Team Captains/Managers shall submit a Team Sheet before play commences.
4.All players MUST have a WHS recognised handicap. ANY player found to have an inactive handicap will be disqualified from that Match and points will be awarded to the opposing team. The Lowest 4 Handicap Index players in the Club as at 1st January each year will only be eligible for the "A" Team. Breach of this Rule will result in that individual's loss of Match points. These Players must be declared to the Scratch League Secretary before the start of the League. All other Players are eligible to play for any Team, BUT all players can only play for one club in a season. Any Player who is unavoidable delayed for his Tee Time and informs his Team Manager in reasonable time, shall be allowed 15 minutes after the last Match Tees off without Penalty.
5.All matches MUST be played as per Fixture list. Teams will only be allowed to re-arrange and re-play matches which are cancelled due to bad weather and these re-arranged dates must go through the Scratch League secretary. No matches should be played on Fridays or Mondays if a County Match is to be played on a Saturday or Sunday with a team player in the County Squad for that match.
6.If a course becomes unfit for play after a match has started, a result can be recorded if; the last game has reached the 10th tee or better, the result of matches shall be gained from when the match was stopped. If the last match cannot finish the 9th hole, the match shall be void.
7. If an away team fails to show for a fixture, without prior warning to the home club, that club may be liable for any reasonable expenses incurred by the Home Club.
8.Scoring system will be: A game win will be 2 points. A draw will be 1 point and A loss will be 0 points. Individual scores MUST still be recorded.
9. No allowance shall be made to any club that cannot field a team. If first choice team members are not available then Juniors or higher handicappers should be used. If NO team is fielded then the points get awarded to the opposing team.
10. The Home Club shall provide all team players and Manager/ Captain with at least a 1 course meal. All other officials MUST offer payment for any meals booked.
11. Final - The winners of the North Division 1 and the winners of the South Division 1 shall compete against each other to become the Scratch League Champions of Cumbria. If a team cannot make the FINAL the winner will be the other Club. Promotions and relegations in other leagues will take place.
12. Match results MUST be forwarded, as soon as possible please, Via WhatsApp Photo to the Scratch League Secretary.
