Seascale pair crowned Master Golfers

Seascale Golf Club recently had double cause for celebration as 2 of their members were crowned Cumbria Master Golfers.

Cumbria Men's team stalwart Craig Morrow capped off a tremendous season which contained no fewer than five top-5 finishes in the 36 hole scratch events held throughout the season.

Craigs campaign couldn't have got off to a better start when he claimed victory in the first event at Furness GC. He came agonisingly close to repeating this at Ulverston where he was beaten on a countback by Keswick's Paul Jenkinson and was also the bridesmaid at Penrith's Whitelaw Trophy. However, Morrow got over the line again at Carlisle to effectively wrap up the Men's Master Golfer title with an event to spare. Just reward for a season where he was the model of consistency.

Jenkinson claimed the spoils in the final event at Workington to clinch second place in the season-long table just edging out Furness' Rob Spence who came in 3rd.

In 2025 Cumbria Union introduced a new 'Junior Master Golfer' category, hoping to develop the young players in the county and get them used to playing in scratch events.

16 year old Brad Quayle of Seascale GC followed Craigs lead and got off to a flyer claiming wins in the junior category of the first 2 events at Furness & Silloth. A runner-up spot at Kirkby Lonsdale kept Brad at the top of the junior standings before a fine victory at Workington, that included a fantastic first round 71 in breezy conditions, sealed his position at the top of the table and crowned him Junior Master Golfer.

Carus Green's Jamie Parry can look back on a season where his game matured greatly resulting in 3 top place finishes in the junior category to finish second overall.
